Some interesting webpages

Howdy gents -

Hey I added a couple web pages today to my site that I thought you all might be interested in. They are 1. A page of silver ore photos with information about silver ores; 2. A page of gold ore photos with information about gold ores; 3. A page of information about California gold veins and ores;
You can find them here:

Beautiful Silver Ore Specimen photos: SILVER ORES AND MINERALS

Beautiful Gold Ore Specimen photos: GOLD ORES AND MINERALS

California gold vein ores: CALIFORNIA MOTHER LODE GOLD QUARTZ VEINS

Enjoy!

Chris

From your link:
Quote:

The so-called "auriferous slate belt" of California, of which the Mother Lode is only one part, begins south of Mariposa County and extends north-westerly along the western flank of the Sierra Nevada to the north line of Plumas county, and doubtless farther,
What about the eastern flank--is it simply less explored and/or exploited, or is there less gold (discovered) there?

Thanks Chris, those rocks were something I've never seen before and will make me look at the beauty of my.9999 coins with a new perspective.

Unclad Lad - The geology of the west flank is completely different from that of the east. There is no slate best on the east - almost nothing but granites and volcanic rocks. They have been explored, but there are are only a very few gold deposits along the eastern side. The east side deposits have produced perhaps 1/10,000 of the amount of gold from the western side. Once you get way out a ways from the east side and into Nevada, of couse the situation is different again - Nevada still produces lots of gold.

Aussie - thanks!

Chris

Thanks for the links, RC!

I used to do a little prospecting, so these sites are quite interesting for me.
